Pete's Dad was a very influential force in Peter's life. His father left

home at 14 (as did Peter), to join the Schubert Theater Touring

Company and traveled throughout the United States performing in the

productions of the Merry Widow and Student Prince. He also was in the

Metropolitan Opera Chorus, the Robert Shaw Corral, and for a brief period

had several radio shows as a song plugger, premiering new songs by

various songwriters. He interviewed many jazz artists, such as Art Tatum,

and also was involved with many painters in the New York scene. He had

numerous jobs, many related to the arts, and he was a great collector and

lover of opera.
